Metaphors

The following is an article about President Bush, of the United States Of America:

Bush sees life in sporting terms

Running the country is no game. It just sounds like one sometimes. In the Bush White House, sports are a metaphor for life. Better keep up if you want to play.

Consider how President Bush describes his time left in office.

"I'm going to sprint to the finish," he likes to say.

In this article, President Bush uses metaphors, which are part of the Assessment Stage of the 4 Stage Process For Analyzing Arguments. He uses it to create a comparative image in our minds of him sprinting to the finish line of his time left in the office, giving us the impression that he's still going to be strong and energetic through out his time, even towards the end.
